Hosted by the three Texas Chapters of ICRI, this is your opportunity to experience authentic Texas Bar-B-Que and tour the Texas State Capitol like no tourist can! Get ready for good food as we start this adventure with a visit to one of Austin’s best BBQ places, Cooper's Old Time Pit Bar-B-Que, where you’ll enjoy a spectacular, if not messy, bar-b-que lunch.

Then it's back on the bus to journey to the Texas State Capitol building. Everyone will get an interior tour, exterior tour, and a trip to the Visitors Center, but not necessarily in that order. Guests will experience an interior guided tour of the Texas Capitol as conducted by the Texas State Preservation Board. As a visitor you’ll be taken through key areas of the building, all while being provided with insights into Texas history and the Texas Legislature itself. The House and Senate WILL be in session during the tour, and viewable from the visitor galleries.

You’ll also get a unique guided tour of the exterior of the building as conducted by local ICRI members who have worked on many of the preservation efforts that can be seen on various portions of the building. An outstanding opportunity to see the preservation and restoration activities up close and personal.

Finally, the third leg of the tour will take you to the 1854 Capitol Visitors Center on the southeast corner of the Capitol site containing various exhibits and historical artifacts. Transportation to and from the hotel and both venues is included.
